What prompted you to create an EP?
For most of my life, I dreamed about releasing music. For a long time, I was too scared to actually do it. I held myself back, but these songs felt like a part of me I needed to create. They came from a quiet and honest place in me. Making this EP was my way of finally giving those parts a voice. It felt like the first time I stopped waiting for permission and just let myself create something real. It still feels kind of surreal that it exists and is now out in the world!
What’s the focus/topic of this album?
The EP is called Backbone, and it’s really about finding something steady inside yourself when everything feels uncertain, learning to shed society’s expectations and live true to yourself, whatever that may be. It came out of a season where I was searching for direction, for peace, for a way to feel at home in myself. The songs are about longing, about feeling stuck, about wanting to live a meaningful life but not knowing where to begin. I wrote these songs as a way to cope, but they ended up becoming a map back to myself.
